Earth Week of Service - Woodland Site Prep at Washington Park

Tuesday, April 26, 2022

9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Washington Park

Event Description
(For everyone) Join us as we lay smothering fabric in our woodland to prep the site for future tree and shrub planting. Volunteers will work together to roll out and pin down black smothering fabric as a natural way to kill weeds and turf grass. The smothering fabric will then be covered with wood chips until next year when we will plant the area. Volunteers should be able to bend, kneel, and lift 10-30 lbs. Accommodations can be made if needed.

For any additional questions about this program, reach out to Davita Flowers-Shanklin at dflowersshanklin@urbanecologycenter.org.

Registration is required for this event and will close 24 hours prior to event start time.
